Wardrobe must have # 6 - Trench Coat

Trench coat, perfect for spring, is my next item in my wardrobe must haves! Trench coats are traditionally waterproof coats, normally worn during the rainy days of spring.  They are normally made of heavy duty cotton, poplin, gabardine, wool or even leather.  Even though trench coat started its trend with knee length style, over the years various lengths have made the appearance and proved to be fashionable too.

Even though colors and fabric are subjective when it comes to trench, the neutral tan/sand color light-weight waterproof cotton is always the classic associated with trench coats, thanks to Burberry, the maker of the Holy Grail trench coat.
Choosing a trench could be tricky, a few things should be taken under consideration to ensure you pick the one that would last you a long time.Well, after all trench coats are evergreen!

It is good to know which length suits your frame. A tall frame should avoid anything too short to keep the proportion in check, while the petite ones could elongate their figures with the shorter coats. But whichever you are, you will never go wrong with the classic slightly above the knee coats that are flattering on all figures.

Cut and collars of the coat play important roles too.  A petite/shorter woman should avoid too wide or big collars that will make her look shorter or swallowed by the coat while bigger women should stick to single breasted cut to give that slimming, more tapered look.  Choose an 'A' line cut trench to balance out a heavier bottom half and avoid too many buttons or details waist up if you are heavier top half.

As any other clothing items, trench coats can be found in many range of prices, but never forget that price does not determine how a coat would fit you!
