... and the sun will rise to a better day

Hello there, dearest friends!  First and foremost I would like to thank all of you who have sent me those comforting messages through the blog and email following my last post. I was so touched and appreciate all of them. You made me feel that I was not alone in my cocoon and that it was not a crime to feel vulnerable, that it was just me being human and not because I was weak. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.

I tried channeling my frustration somewhere else and turn it into something positive. I spent time with the boys, talked to them about their college plans which proved to be a good motivational move as they were all inspired and started making plans for a better school year ahead. I also put myself in a self imposed fitness challenge of 90 days starting a few weeks back. I figured, it has been a while since I last took my fitness seriously. So I started a tailor made program to give myself a kick start. It was not easy to get back on track but it was worth it.

In between looking for potential colleges for the boys, doing research for my fitness challenge and working out, I basically had less time to dwell in stuff that was consuming me. Some things are not for me to change, they are way beyond my control, "Way above our pay grade" as Captain put it. In short, I feel a lot better today.. despite the hot weather that is still going strong.

Thank you again for being there.. sending all of you a big hug and will be back soon!

  2. It is great that you are feeling better, and focusing on something positive and something you have control over. It is really important to know that while there are big areas in life beyond our control, we are not powerless, and can still steer our lives in the direction of our choice, and we decide how we deal with and feel about those areas we cannot control. It seems that you are back on track and reclaiming your life, good for you!

  3. It's so good to hear from you! I am glad to see that you feel better. I encourage you to focus on your priorities, which are your family and your health and well-being. There are things that are beyond our control unfortunately, which challenges us how we deal with it and maintain sanity. I wish you all the best!!!

  4. Good to see you are back and I'm so impressed with your fitness challenge! Good luck! Sometimes it's easy to get stuck in time consuming and energy draining stuff without realizing it. What one needs is to focus on creative things to get the positive energy back. But I know that I do that myself from time to time! There is a story about the monk who was helped by a man to cross the river, a mirror fell out of the monk's backpack and the man asked why would a monk carrying around a mirror and the monk replied: When I look in the mirror, I not only see the root to my problems, but also the solution. (not sure if re-told correctly but basically, we decide how to move on and deal with issues. Some we cannot control but we can control how we deals with them. Anyways, good to have you back! xxx

    1. It makes a lot of sense.. I forgot that I had no power to change the world but as you say I always have the power to decide how I can do my part into promoting a better'world' for my family at least. Thank you, Pia :) Hugs!

  5. Awesome! Sounds like a plan .. and it must be fun to help your boys plan for their future. And a good fitness plan is just the thing to focus your thoughts elsewhere :-)

  7. Love to hear that you're doing so much better! I'd do well to follow suit. This has been an extraordinarily slow time for us as we approach our business' 20th anniversary, and I'm feeling anxious about almost everything. But we all persevere, and I'll use your example. Getting on my feet and out of my head sounds like good practice to emulate! May cooler weather find you all soon!
