For me living room is exactly what its name suggested.. a living space, a place to sit and enjoy some great company be it your guests or own family. In my everyday life, living room plays a big role. It is the place where I spend most of my time in - catching up with Captain and the boys, watch a bit of TV, browse the net on my laptop or even having some friends for casual chat over some lemonade. I wish I could share my living room here with all of you but living abroad in a company accommodation, nothing much could be done. All the furniture and fixing were given to us, we just added some personal touch like the huge mirror with solid wooden frame engraved with some Arabic text we bought when we first arrived here and our massive coffee table that we bought over a year ago among others. But we do have preference when it comes to living room and hopefully when we finally settled in our own home one day we could incorporate these elements in this favorite space of ours!
Elements that appeals to us in creating a dream living room :
High ceiling
Lots of natural lights
Tall windows
Neutral clean pallet with a touch of color
Comfortable furniture, mixture of wooden and fabric
Fabulous flooring with minimum coverage
Element of nature - plant, water, stones, wood
Great mix of lighting source
Do you have a specific preferences when it comes to your living room? Do share with me, I would love to hear about it! I leave you all here with some of my favorite examples and hope you have a great weekend! See you on Monday!

I love your style of interiors- very costal chic. I'm more of an urban minimalist myself. By the way, what you wrote on your comment is so true and insightful.

Yes, I have very specific preferences:)! It has to be bright, it has to have wood beamed ceilings, it has to have charm and character, it has to have a fireplace, and a view wouldn't hurt. *In My Dreams.* :) Have a great weekend my friend!

I would love if more greenery could be included in the design of living rooms. Indoor plants, water features etc.
Visit my blogs too, appreciate if you would scribble some comments there. I blog a lot about the middle east.

That second room is dreamy - what a view!
ReplyDeleteI live in a country where there is little space and lots of people. So houses are expensive.
ReplyDeleteWe bought a small house. High ceilings is all I can offer that is to your taste. Everything else is completely different. Very very colourful. If you want to have a look. Go to my blog and search "colour in the livingroom" and you will find the article with lots of photos.
Put on sunglases before you go there haha. LOL

Haha! I would love to have a look. I'll stop by soon. The house we are living in now is quite big in size but it's not ours unfortunately :(
DeleteI don't think it's because I'm Canadian, but I love, love, love Sarah Richardson. I love the way she plays with many patterns, and lots of colour, and well, she designs her homes pretty much the way I decorate my own.

I think we are all inspired by someone or something. My current house is very colorful - wasabi (Japanese mustard) green and terra-cota orange walls with yellow sofa set (which works well actually) but I've always wanted a clean neutral living room which I never get.. having 2 boys running around and neutral colors really do not go hand in hand ;)
