I remember sporting the faded, heavily distressed denim overall over an old Rolling Stone t.shirt and a pair of Dr Martens, way back in the 90s. It was my go to for a while, in fact I met my Mr Right for the first time wearing it! Fast forward almost 20 years later, they (the overalls) are back in trend! The likes of Current Elliot, GUESS, Joe's Jeans are definitely on the front row with this trend. The question is, is there an age limit to this trend? Is it worth to spend hundreds of dollar on it? (damn! I should have saved mine!) And how do we pair this piece to avoid it from being dated?
What is your thoughts on this trend? How would you pair it?

I used to wear mine all of the time...and yes, I too unfortunately got rid of them! I'd definitely wear them again if the right pair came along...

Damn! My overall was gorgeous because it was old as I bought it from a bundle store for like $10 or less!

I have bit thought about overall since I was 10 haha. Honestly this trend doesn't work for my body type. I have smaller waist and bigger thighs so can you image me in this? I'm thinking mario brother but in a very unflattering way lol 😅
ReplyDeleteHaha! This is hilarious! I too have thunder thigh.. I guess my thigh was smaller 20 years ago LOL!
DeleteI've always liked overalls & I actually kept a pair!!! I'm like you, however, wondering if I dare wear them again at my age.
ReplyDeleteMaybe at home to do housework with little red scarf to cover the head.. that is cute I think :)
DeleteI love this trend really, but I'm too fat to wear it :-( I think so ...

This is a cute trend and I sold my overalls because I don't need too many trendy pieces in my closet. :-)

I just saw Elizabeth Moss on the cover of New York Magazine wearing these (and nothing else!) and was reminded of your post. I'm sorry - but I think they are hideous! :)
ReplyDeleteHaha! I guess it has to go with certain people and personality. It just reminds me of my younger trimmer days.. :)
Deletei kinda love the atlantic pacific version of overalls (or dungarees as we call them in the UK) i pinned that look as i am so wanting to recreate it!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure how I feel about overalls yet. I think they look good on girls with tall, thin body types, but that is not me at all! I probably won't be trying out this trend :)

Last time I wore overalls was 16 years ago, when I was pregnant! They've come a long way since then. These are some really cute looks. Thanks for linking up this week!
ReplyDeleteI have been really indecisive about this trend, but now that I saw that 3rd to last picture with the crop top, I am kind of obsessed!

this always reminds me of being a kid... I'd let Aria wear one, but i know if i try one on, I'd look like a construction worker.
ReplyDeleteYou cracked me, Rache! hehehe!
DeleteHmm, I too used to have overalls in my early to late teens, a short or knee-length style too. I am not sure how I feel about them now. I think if the right pair came along I would be willing to try them. I love that very first outfit though.
ReplyDeleteI am beginning to think slowly but surely, that it may not be for me. At least not going around town in. But the right piece would make a great beach holiday outfit especially my holiday always involved outdoor activities with the boys :)
DeleteI love the overall trend! I think it is so chic, especially with some modern updates! I have a pair of denim short overalls that I just can't wait to wear!

I am sure your slim and lanky self would look good in it! :)
DeleteI think this is such a fun, edgy trend! I don't see myself every wearing it with where I live and what I do for a living, but I like seeing these on the bigger bloggers! ;)

This is the one style of denim that gives Dan the hives. Overalls freak him out in a way similar to spiders. It's context ... every old guy here drags around in them, so they're not worn with any irony. I think they belong on those bold enough to wear them, always with heels (they lose their cool with brogues, I think) and, of course, on toddlers. Your slim, willowy petite-ness qualifies you, I'm sure. I'd consider a pair of black coated denim ones ... with a sheer blouse and pointy toe pumps. But not worth the risk of giving Dan apoplexy. He's so cool, other than this one thing ....
ReplyDeleteI really dig this look on other people (love the looks you've selected here!) but haven't had the chance to test drive this look on myself. I need to!
ReplyDeleteHappy Thursday!

I love these 90's trends having back. That was my teenage time. I think this particular trend don't have age limit. It all depend how in particular age will be styled. I loooove have Shara Jessica Parker styled her overalls on Ellen.

I will need to dig my closet on this one. I think I still have my old one and hope I've not outgrown the overall. LOL! I'm totally loving this comeback but yea, I'm still wondering if I should pay for a new one.
