Here are some snap-shots as a summery of my small visit to Vienna!
The Marriot in Vienna was a perfect place for us, a stroll away from Vienna City Centre or Wien Mitte as the locals called it
Sisi or Empress Elisabeth of Austria, her story was very interesting, so was her museum
The Kiss - one of the famous paintings by Gustav Klimt
The Royal Opera House, the playground of Mozart and Salieri
Beautiful fountain at the corner near the winter royal palace, Hofburg
The Gothic structure of St Stephen's cathedral
The Kärntnerstrasse, strolling down this beautiful street was good for health but not good for my wallet ;D
Coffee and strudel, anyone?
The rose garden, Volksgarten.. amazing!
Mozart balls, a must for those with sweet tooth!
Beautiful pictures, Vienna is truly steeped in culture and architectural magnificence... I hope to go one day. Happy New Year to you!

I LOVE Vienna. I went there with my mother 10 years ago. I loved the Lipasan (sp?) Horses. We saw them perform.
ReplyDeleteOK. you your hubby are so cute!! Your husband sort of looks like someone I know! :=)
Lipizzan? (I think that's how it is spelled, not sure myself) Yes, the Spanish Riding School in Vienna is famous for that. My hubby thinks he looked like a homeless gut in that hat, LOL!
DeleteAlways so good to read how much people like Vienna! :D The horses are called "Lippizaner" and don't want to criticize, but the street you call Kärntnerstrasse is actually "the Graben". If you continue the way you photographed it, you'd find Kärntnerstrasse on the very end to your right. It's the street, where "Gerstner" is and also it leads all the way to our famous Opera house. glad you enjoyed your stay - xox, Macs
DeleteOh and one more thing: It's true that we call "first district" the center - we often also just say: I'm going/driving into "the first" (den Ersten), but we do not call it Wien Mitte - as that term is used for a different area in 3rd. district (close to, but not 1st) ;-)
DeleteHi, Macs! Sorry for all the messed up, you know tourist! Anyway, thanks for the clarification and yes, I enjoyed Vienna a lot :) You live in a great city!
Deletesuch a gorgeous city, enjoy your trip. Besos.

Yes, Simona we went inside St Stephan's. Outside it looks all gothic and a bit scary but inside, it is just another church! How look can be deceiving :) Glad you had fun in Vienna too
