Up in the air

I was a bit bummed out to know that our journey to America was not going to be on the Airbus 380 as the fleet does not have any flight to Los Angeles.  I heard so much from Captain, the boys (from their unaccompanied travels) and friends about the Emirates A380 but have never been.  Oh, well I thought, there'll be another time.  So for the trip we were on Emirates Airlines Boeing 777.

So there we were, arriving not too early or too late at the airport with 2 check-ins and 1 carry-on (hmm, not a light traveler unfortunately).  I always try not to overdress when I travel, a true believer of comfort over style.  So there I was in my beloved well worn cashmere sweater (grey) with a pair of black leggings and soft pair of black flats (and I forgot to get pictures of course, not so clever there, must be the travel bug).

My suite, I specifically asked for window suite.  I feel less claustrophobic if
I had a window to look out once in a while.

Talk about luxury in the air, Emirates truly goes the extra miles to bring this to reality.  Ok, where do I begin - Fabulous wine list (not that I drink any), serve on demand meals chosen from a variety of cuisine, always available counter top snacks, flat bed with fabulously soft and comfy duvet, pijama and bedroom slippers (I love!), personal closet, bar and snack basket... well, the list goes on and on.

Captain's suite across from mine, door closed. He had late dinner,
read something and slept most of the way!

There are only 8 first class suites on Emirates Boeing 777

Personal bar filled with junks I didn't drink.

Food was quite good (considering airline food) as well, not that I remember now specificlly what I had but I remember it being something in the line of sumptuous salad, fillet mignon over a nice bed of green something and roast vegetables on side, fabulous selection of dessert I didn't touch and green tea with Godiva chocolate. I had a small bottle of 250 ml of fancy looking mineral water and some soft drinks/juices in my personal bar, pre-flight stored there by the crew and I kept on chiming them for more water (yes, I drink like camel when travel, and I drink only water) I think after a while they must have gotten so annoyed with me and send me a large 1.5 liter bottle instead (got the message woman?) and after that I was a good passenger all the way into LA! ;D

 Vanity table!

In flight entertainment of Emirates is truly top of the range and in a class of its own.  Hundreds of movies, series, CDs and news channel that can be viewed on demand.  The movies are well updated and you can find the latest ones surely.  I watched The Hunger Games (mental note - must read the books) and Safe before bed and Captain did some catching up on his Top Gear.  Wished I could watch more but I had to sleep so that I will arrive LA nice and fresh!

Suite control panel.  This is cool but annoying when I was trying to sleep!  The lights would not turn off fully and I hate eyeshades!  So I covered it with a little towel :)

Ok, take a guess, which is the main focus of this shot?  The beautiful orchids or the gorgeous Jason Statham? No brainer...

My real life Jason Statham... <3

All ready for bed in this comfortable pijama and dodgy socks... good night!

  2. Absolutely the best way to tavel long haul! Only problem with the sweets is that you are separated from your hubby! On our last flight to Hong Kong all we could do is reach out and touch each others hands :( but undeniably the most fabulous and comfortable way to travel! So fashion wise, because I love travel fashion, what bag did you use as a carry on?

  15. Lucky lady! I've never done first class with Emirates before, but business was already pretty snazzy (free airport sedan pickup - yes, please!) - first looks awesome! I don't think I would have slept much on the flight, I'd be too busy playing around!
