Summer Rock and Roll

The title of this post reminds me a bit of the 90s rock and roll song by Bryan Adams, Summer of 69.. and yes, I am a huge fan - not so much of Bryan Adams but rock and roll in general. Those were the days when I was a regular at Hard Rock Cafe back home in Kuala Lumpur where rock bands around the world played (and still playing). While I used to dream of going to live concerts of Metallica, Red Hot Chili Peppers and the rock and roll Gods themselves, The Led Zepplin; I had to settle for some not so well known cover bands that were not too shabby themselves. Today, my sons inherited the many rock CDs I used to collect and like their mommy once, they too worship these bands and play their famous tunes on their guitars.

And so this week, I dedicate my post and outfit to those days of mine.

I bought this vest by Dolce Vita a few months ago but it was a bit too big for my frame. The vest was in small size but I could have done with an extra small instead. As a result, I will have to let it go. (Anyone interested, please let me know) A perfect piece to dress up plain white t.shirts in my opinion.

As many of you may have noticed, I don't accessorize much. Once in a while I will do so with some statement necklaces of bracelets.  I bought this piece from Forever 21 because I was impressed with the color combination and quality.  For a piece that cost less than $15, it was quite well made. It does a perfect job balancing this very masculine black/leather outfit by giving it a softer touch.

So are/were you a fan of rock and roll? Would love to hear about your favorite rock and roll bands or rock and roll inspired outfit :)

  2. Heavy metal in practically a national religion in Finland... Every nerdy IT guy is a weekend head banger, and that is considered normal. I am more into rock and roll, though, and have been to many Bon Jovi concerts, right here in my own home town... But I don't often dress very rock and roll, or it comes and goes, and at the moment my leather jacket has been in the closet for a while. Maybe I'll dig it out one day....

    1. OMG! Funny you mentioned about head banger because I was contemplating to include that in the post but fear that no body would have a clue what on earth I was talking about! Bon Jovi was quiet good too and I got to go to one of their concerts when they came to KL way back in the 90s.. you should really dig out that leather jacket, Tiina.. would love to see it!

  4. Your look is so effortless yet chic. You have a great sense of balancing between edgy and chic. As far as the accessories go, I share your thoughts. I don't accessorize much either. Less is more, isn't it? I have to tell you, your skin looks absolutely amazing!

  11. I cannot believe that necklace is from Forever 21! I love those shoes like you have no idea!!! Growing up, Bryan Adams was one of my favorites, esp that song! The funny thing is that he was 9 and a 1/2 in the summer of '69 so I when I sing it, I change to words to "Back in the summer when I was 9!" Too funny! Great post and great look!

  15. I'm resolutely a rock and roll girl - I have been all my life. I'm especially a fan of Bruce Springsteen, who is one of the most talented musicians I've ever been lucky enough to see play live. I love this edgy look, it is definitely representative of someone who loves rock and roll but still likes to look put together. Your slip ons are fabulous!
