Wardrobe Challenge # 2 Wear the hat you claim you can't pull off!

Wardrobe Challenge # 2 - Wear the hat you claim you can't pull off.  This challenge is perfect for me as I never thought that I could pull off any type of hats without looking like a clown or worst a vendor at a farmer's market in Kuala Lumpur. But the truth is I LOVE hats! It is them that don't fancy me. As prove, I have many hats in my closet which I bought only to wear once or never and this beret is one of them.

For this challenge, I took it out (because I believe that this one makes me look the worst) and pair it with this huge pure cotton shirt (which I normally wear on the beach as cover up) and the slouchiest pants I could find in my closet. I was going for the struggling French painter look and while on the way out Captain was saying "Lets just hope none of my colleagues see you like this!" Haha! Very funny.

After spending a few hours outside with this beret and later looking at these pictures, The verdict is I will save this beret for costume parties or better donate it to charity.  Case closed.

My thoughts and prayers to all 239 passengers and crew of Malaysia Airlines's MH 370  to Beijing that went missing last Saturday, 2 hours into its journey. May we all find the answers soon..

  1. I think that the hat itself is quite lovely on you. It is the rest of the ensemble that isn't helping. You really do look like you could be found on the Left Bank.

This really seems out of sync with what you wear normally. I think if you had created an outfit that was more like what you wear regularly and simply added the hat it would have suited you more.

    Like your outfit here...

It is so scary that an airplane can just disappear. Very disturbing and as you wrote, my heart goes out to all those touched by the tragedy.

    1. Left Bank? hahaha, that's a good one!! I think you are right.. instead of trying to look like a french painter, I should look like myself with a french painter hat. I'll definitely do a take 2. Thanks for the suggestion :)

  4. This is such a new look for you and I really like it! You look so comfortable - although I understand trying something new and then deciding it's not for you. But I think you look adorable.

  6. I think the beret works with you but maybe not with this outfit? Maybe using the same top but with some cute fitted pants and some pretty heels. Give it another try - I think it's a keeper.

  10. I like how you look in this beret, definitely different from your usual look but isn't it nice to look differently from time to time. I especially like the first photo - you look so young and happy. Actually I like the shirt too, maybe I would wear just different pants.

  11. Good for you for challenging yourself to try something new! I think it's really cute on you, but I understand where you're coming from because I VERY rarely will venture to wear a daring hat in public.

I hope we find the answers about that flight soon as well. So so sad.

  13. Oooh, I was so interested to read all the comments. When I saw the first photo, my immediate thought was Cute!! But, I agree that the clothing is sooo very different to the chic, tailored looks we most often see yourself in! Promise us to restyle the beret with another outfit!

  14. Ohhhh stop it, you can totally wear this style of French Cap. I have been wearing similar ones a lot, this Winter. I practically have the twin version of this Hat in Red (but it's in the US). I love your Toms and your skin looks gorgeous by the way.

    1. I saw the yellow ones that both you and Vivian wore and you both looked so cute. As for the skin, I guess that's the beauty of make up, LOL!

  15. I respectfully disagree with you! The beret looks very nice on you - but not with that outfit. You have a slouchy hat paired with an oversized shirt and relaxed, cuffed pants. I think sharper, cleaner lines would work much better with the hat, and your current outfit is beautiful without any headgear at all ;-)

  16. I'm not one for hats (hat hair!), but I think the beret looks quite cute on you :-)

I was also distressed to hear about the Malaysia flight .. I hope they find out what happened soon for the families of the passengers.

  17. I think the beret looks cute on you but if it makes you feel uncomfortable and you don't enjoy wearing it, then I agree that it would be better off in someone else's hat collection. I'm looking forward to seeing how you restyle it with a different outfit though. Who knows? Maybe you'll decide to keep it after all. I definitely want to try this challenge. I have several hats that I haven't had the courage to wear in public yet!

  18. I never wear hats because I feel like I can't pull them off; I just have such a little head. But I think this hat was perfectly styled with this outfit. Happy Monday!

  26. :( The missing flight is just so upsetting!
I was just telling someone today that I can't wear hats - other than your baseball caps. So, this makes me jealous a bit because everyone else always looks good in hats but me! Glad you pulled this out. Thank you for linking up!

  32. I thought about you kids when we heard of the Flight 370 news. Know it affects you in multiple ways. Hope there is news soon for the sake of so many.
You look quite spiffy in your hat! Now you know you can absolutely wear the hat. Makes you look like a young art student with unusual class. I don't know how I missed the challenge 'cause I read WWW, but as I don't bother to dress every day, It would take me two months to get it all done. I do intend to check them out via your posts, 'cause I'm feeling a bit dowdy these days and need some daily inspiration. Thank you.
I'm fairly sure you'll read my VM post at some point ... nobody got the humor, but you usually do. Did you get *funny* at all, or did I just sound belligerent? Inquiring minds, etc.

  33. Okay, you can definitely pull off this hat! I think you need it in every color! The news about the flight is seriously so sad and scary. I hope they can find some answers soon. I feel like everytime I check the news they "say" they found something but it hasn't lead to any answers yet. Here's hoping <3
