Patchwork

Happy Monday, dear friends!

Yes, 'fall' is finally here! Well, for those who are not familiar with Dubai weather, 'fall' here means cooler weather by a few degrees. Pathetic, yes? Yes, but hey after 7 months of not seeing anything under 30 degrees Celsius, we were ecstatic to see a 28 degrees yesterday. We celebrated the 'cooler' weather by bringing out all our outdoor furniture we carefully stored when summer arrived 7 months ago. Good to be outside again.

This week's outfit post is of a simple button down paired with a patchwork skirt. Speaking of patchwork, it truly reminds me of when I was small. My mother used to patched up some leftover pieces of material from our pajamas she used to made to be used in the kitchen. I always thought they were pretty with all sorts of colors and patterns mixed together.. *sigh* those were the days when life was simpler... Well, this skirt sort of brings back good memories of my childhood.

Colorful and pattern filled pieces like this does not need much to pair with, a simple plain top would do. I didn't want the top to outshine the skirt which in my opinion was the center of this whole outfit.

  1. Here in Alberta, Canada it's -20ºC (-4ºF) and we had a major snowstorm yesterday!

I love the skirt on you and the red shoes and tote compliment it beautifully.

  3. Looking great! I love Desigual and the skirt is amazing! I was taking a walk up to the neighbours and was even contemplating putting a sweater on as it was a bit "chilly" (if one can even use such word here). The cooler days have arrived and we love every minute of it!

  7. I love those shoes!! I haven't seen the Freelance brand in a while, but I do recall a pair of chunky brown shoes under my bed or in the back of a closet... hmmm, I'll have to pull those out and see if they are still in style! They are chunky enough that they may still be :) And of course that bag is gorgeous. Accessories are my obsession lately! Enjoy the cooler temperatures,

  17. What a great skirt! I love how you've paired it with red shoes and a crisp white blouse. It's funny that it's finally cool enough for you to sit outside. I sat out in the summer when it was around 25C but sadly it's too cool for that now. Enjoy the perfect weather!

  28. Oh yes! You do sweet and sophisticated with equal aplomb ... and this is adorable. Just the right instinct, I think, with the white shirt. Perfect with bag and shoes ... that bag adds a dose of cool that elevates the home-spun attitude of the skirt several notches without taking away from it at all.
Lovely you. So fun to see this one, too.

  30. This looks so effortlessly chic. Easy, comfortable, yet elegant and youthful. Not young but youthful. Exactly the right proportions, materials and colours. This is a very good job. Love it. Had to laugh over you putting outdoor furniture INside when summer arrives. Opposite worlds.

  31. This is a fun way to manipulate a patchwork skirt. I love how the pattern pieces are cut on the bias...makes for a very modern look. Expertly styled, but then I can always count on you for that! You look lovely, and your last photo is my favourite. Such a beautiful smile you have!
