My New Snappy Friend

I am not big on photography; most of the pictures I snapped have always had something to do with people standing in line smiling awkwardly at the camera.  I am somewhat envious of those who take good pictures, like postcards, pictures that speak the mood at that particular time.  My reasoning point has always been “They must have a good camera”.  My camera and travel companion for the past 5 years, Miss Casio Exilim 8.1 MP, is a basic ‘point and snap’ type and the results were not too great.  So, since I started blogging, I am determined to try and take good pictures for my blog and for that today we brought home our new friend, Miss Fujifilm HS20EXR.  We bought her second hand from another expat that bought this camera for his wife whom later found it too complicated for her.  She was left unused for the past few months.   My hope is that she’s not too complicated for me too and that she will help me snap more pictures and record memories to last a lifetime!

This is it! Welcome to my blog!

HOW IT ALL STARTED?

Out of the blue, I decided that I want to start a blog.  I figured rather than I drive my darling 'Captain' aka husband crazy with all my antics and tireless chatter, might as well I put them in words and share them with others in a blog.  Now, what should I blog about?  Well, normally people blog on topics of which they are credible of, for their expertise on certain field or for what they are passionate about.  Well, I am not an expert on anything nor do I have any formal qualification on anything that I am passionate about BUT I have a lot of passion.  I have passion in everything - fashion, food, travel, healthy living, fitness, music.. you name it and chances are I know about it BUT still, I am no expert.  I am what you call 'Jack of all trades' hence the title of my blog.  What I know are based on self-experience and experiments.

A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME

I am a 43 year old (2013) mother to my fabulous 3 sons and a wife to darling 'Captain'.  We are currently residing in Dubai where 'Captain' is flying with one of the airlines.  Ever since I quit my job as a TV Producer and moved to Dubai, I have been a 'stay at home mom' or better known as Lady of Leisure ; ) and during my spare time I love to browse the net while listening to the music, browse the malls, keep fit, travel whenever I can or just hang out with my boys.  Being an expat in a foreign country that hosts expatriates from hundreds of nationalities, I am privileged enough to witness many amusing, inspiring and appalling scenes around me of which I will share with you along the way, so, stick around!

THE OUTFITS

My outfit posts might not be fancy and magazine center spread material but they are what I wear on the day to day basis depending on what I do on that particular day.  I am trying to be more practical and wear more of what I already have in my closet and buy what I think needed to compliment them.  My New Year resolution for 2012 is to Wear more and Buy less!  It's a test and lets see if I can manage!  Most (if not all) of the pictures were taken by my 13 year old twin sons.

THE RECIPES

The recipes posted on this blog are the ones I have tried many times and 'mastered' or the ones I tried for the first time.  So bear with the 'trial and error' bit  and mind the pictures, they might not be pretty!

THE TRAVEL

We are privileged to be able to travel a bit and we hope to share some pictures and information on the places we were able to visit with you!
